Of the many others advanced as authors of "Shakespeare," Francis Bacon is the only candidate who was alive for the publication of the 1623 Folio. Several major plays, including the Tempest and Henry VIII, were never seen in print before 1623. For example, there are historical records that indicate that Bacon was working on "The History of King Henry the VIII" as early as 1622 and documentation that he applied for the loan of archives(records office) pertaining to the reign of Henry VIII in January 1623. In December of 1623, "The History of King Henry VIII "was printed for the very first time in the Shakespeare First Folio. |
